NIOA appointed Remington agent for New Zealand

26 May 2022

NIOA has linked with one of the world’s oldest firearms and ammunition manufacturers, expanding its offering to New Zealanders.

In an exciting announcement for hunting and sporting shooters, NIOA has secured the exclusive agency for Remington firearms and ammunition in New Zealand.

Founded in the US in 1816 when Eliphalet Remington II started making gun barrels on his father’s forge, Remington has established a reputation internationally for its long line of legendary firearms and dependable rounds.

Remington ammunition and Remington firearms are now two separate companies with Vista Outdoor acquiring the ammunition side in 2020 while the 206-year-old firearms legacy continues under RemArms.

The Remington tie-up is a boon for the newly named NIOA (New Zealand) which was announced in April with the acquisition of Auckland-based Sportways Distributors.

NIOA in New Zealand represents many of the world’s renowned manufacturers.

NIOA General Manager (New Zealand) Garry Powell said Remington was one of the industry’s most respected brands.

“Generations of hunters and shooters the world over have trusted Remington products. Its reputation speaks for itself,” he said.

“NIOA is committed to offering New Zealand customers the best. This new relationship with Remington strengthens a strong line of firearms and ammunition built up over more than two decades under the former Sportways banner.

“Going forward, the NIOA team in New Zealand is focussed on growing our range to give customers even more options to enjoy their passion.”

Mr Powell has also announced the launch of a new website for New Zealand customers as NIOA focusses on scaling up its product offering.

The website www.nioa.co.nz features a portal where NIOA’s New Zealand dealer network can order products and subscribe for the latest news.

“We have had a great response since Sportways joined the NIOA family and we now have a website that builds on our commitment of going above and beyond to meet the needs of our customers,” Mr Powell said.
